Dr. Stan Appelbaum and his wife Barbara Bassin OTR/L, BCP had a vision to open a practice

To provide their patients the highest quality of care in a family-oriented atmosphere. In 2009, they welcomed their son, Dr. Bryce Appelbaum, into the practice who helped further transform Appelbaum Vision, PC into one of the premier vision learning centers in the country.

Appelbaum Vision is one of the only optometric practices that provides their patients the opportunity to receive both Optometric Vision Therapy and Sensory-Integration oriented Occupational Therapy in the same office.

Dr. Stan Appelbaum, OD, FCOVD

Dr. Stan Appelbaum is a board certified Fellow of the College of Optometrists in Vision Development.

He is a graduate of The University of Maryland and The Illinois College of Optometry, and completed a residency in Optometric Vision Therapy Dr. Stan Appelbaum of Appelbaum Vision at the State University of New York’s College of Optometry. Dr. Stan Appelbaum, author of Eye Power, is an Adjunct Clinical Professor at the Southern College of Optometry and has served on the Board of Sensory Integration International.

He has also served on the Board of the College of Optometrists in Vision Development and is a member of the Integrative Healthcare Policy Consortium Board of Directors. He has medical staff privileges at the Maryland Adventist Rehabilitation Hospital and the National Rehabilitation Hospital in Washington DC.

Dr. Bryce Appelbaum, OD, FCOVD

Dr. Bryce Appelbaum is a board certified Fellow of the College of Optometrists in Vision Development.

He completed his undergraduate degree from Washington University in St. Louis where he majored in Psychology and Pre-Medical studies and graduated with clinical honors from The Illinois College of Optometry.

He has completed extensive post doctoral training in the areas of

Dr. Bryce Appelbaum lectures on various vision related topics

Including sports vision, acquired brain injury, strabismus and amblyopia, vision and learning, and visual behavior in the classroom. He is certified in Corneal Refractive Therapy/Orthokeratology, a specialty contact lens approach to slowing down nearsightedness and improving eyesight as an alternative to refractive surgery.

Dr. Bryce Appelbaum is passionate about helping his patients reach their optimal potential and uncovering undetected visual problems which can interfere with functioning. Additionally, he is known for applying his knowledge of visual behavior to areas beyond the classroom or workplace.

Dr. Bryce Appelbaum has worked with dozens of professional athletes, several professional sports teams, and countless amateur athletes to transform raw talent into honed performance through vision.

Barbara Bassin OTR/L, BCP

Barbara Bassin, OTR/L, BCP is an AOTA Board Certified Pediatric Occupational Therapist who works with children and adults.

She graduated Suma Cum Laude from Boston University Sargent College in Occupational Therapy and is licensed in Maryland and the District of Columbia. Barbara Bassin of Appelbaum Vision She is certified in the administration and interpretation of The Sensory Integration and PRAXIS Test (SIPT), in Advanced Therapeutic Listening, and in Interactive Metronome.

Ms. Bassin is a frequent lecturer and has published in the areas of Sensory Integration Dysfunction, Learning Disabilities, Perceptual Motor, Movement, Behavior and Developmental Delays.

Ms. Bassin and her team of therapists use meaningful and purposeful activity to help children and their families succeed in meeting life’s challenges. She strives to support and energize each individual and/or family to give her patients the motivation they need to challenge themselves and be successful in making lasting change.

Ms. Bassin believes parents, caregivers and extended family members are all integral parts of the therapy process and ensures that these individuals are appropriately educated so that they can be empowered to affect positive change toward their child’s progress.
